Email fraud and the interception or alteration of payment instructions are material risks. Fraudsters may imitate a legitimate email address, alter an invoice or send false banking details from a compromised account.

Verify every payment instruction
Pike Law will not notify you of a change to its banking details solely by email. Before making any payment, and particularly before using banking details received electronically, telephone the practitioner responsible for the matter or our office on +27 21 795 0345. Use a telephone number already known to you or obtained independently from this website. Do not rely on contact details contained only in the email requesting payment.

If an instruction appears suspicious
• Do not make the payment or reply to the suspicious message.
• Telephone Pike Law using independently verified contact details.
• If payment has already been made, contact your bank immediately and request that it attempt to stop or recover the payment.
• Preserve the emails, payment confirmations and related records for investigation.
You remain responsible for verifying payment instructions before making payment. Pike Law will never ask you to disclose passwords, one-time PINs or banking credentials.
